Demario Prince Misses Medal by Milliseconds at World Indoor
World Indoors: Prince places 4th in 60m at World Indoor Championship

KINGSTON, Jamaica — Despite a brilliant new personal best of 7.43 seconds, Demario Prince was an agonising fourth in the men’s 60m hurdles on Saturday’s second day of the World Athletics Indoor Championships at Kujawsko-Pomorska Arena in Toruń, Poland. Prince, who lowered his previous best of 7.46 seconds set a month ago, was just edged out of a medal by the American Trey Cunningham who was also timed in 7.43 seconds but edged the Jamaican by 9/1000th of a second - .421 to .430. Poland’s Jakub Szymnaski won the gold in 7.40 seconds with Enrique Llopis setting a Spanish national record of 7.42 seconds for the silver medal. Earlier in the semi-finals, Prince was second in his race in 7.53 seconds to get an automatic spot in the final, finishing behind Cunningham who ran a personal best 7.35 seconds. Jerome Campbell who had advanced from the morning session’s first round, finished eighth in his semi-final, hitting the first hurdle and never recovered. He was later disqualified.
